A Hostile workplace is not only illegal, it is destructive to any organization. Left unchecked, workplace hostility and incivility can escalate into violence. While a training program on workplace hostility, manners and courtesy may seem like overkill, the reality is: rudeness and improper interaction in the workplace is a growing epidemic costing businesses and organizations millions a year. Indeed, what society seems to be gaining in terms of both knowledge and technological advancement, it’s losing out on basic social values that directly impact employees’ and clients’ interaction and relationships, productivity and the bottom line. Failing to properly interact with co-workers, supervisors, managers and clients, or even just a tendency to smirk at an unusual request, may not seem like much at first glance.
